“The Light of Hope,” written by the university founder, Daisaku Ikeda

I am very pleased to announce that we have received a special song, “The Light of Hope,” written by the university founder, Daisaku Ikeda, in commemoration of SUA’s 10th anniversary, which we celebrated in May with the 2011 commencement ceremony and the grand opening of the new Soka Performing Arts Center. Inspired by the accomplishments that SUA has achieved over the past ten years, Mr. Ikeda worked on this song over the past two months in preparation for its debut at the President’s Welcome Reception for the incoming Class of 2015. I am deeply moved by his expectations for SUA, our students and each of us in being the light of hope for the future.

I hope that you enjoy this special song from Mr. Ikeda.

When I listened this song, I felt encouraged to realize everything that I have determined in my life. I am not student at Soka University yet. However, I received that song as if I was a student at SUA. Congratulations Soka University's students!

Before come to Italy, I made some gifts for Japanese people in Japan. My friend , who is from Japan, went to visit her family for two weeks. Her parents live in the area that happened the tsunami. I made it to encourage them to overcome their situation and to be absolutely happy independent of the circumstances. I hope they will like it.

My friends in London

Ana Paula, Cecilia and Junior spent some time with me in London. We had fun time together. I miss them...

My birthday on July 7

My birthday was very special. First I had invited some friends to come to my house and have tozo with me but unfortunately I had to work and I cancelled it. However, my friends Ana Paula and Cecilia were at my house on holiday and we had pizza for dinner. Paula was there too. Ana and Cecilia's mother sent to me a birthday candle. It was amazing and funny. We had a good time together.

Future Soka University students

Last Saturday, Junior, Ana Paula, Cecilia, Paula and I went to Taplow Court in the morning. We had agreed to meet a girl who is applying for Soka University of America too. I have forgotten her name, sorry. She was born in Japan but she came to live in London when she was a little girl. I had met her last year in an activity where she gave her experience about overcoming cancer and her determination to apply for Soka University. We sat in the grass in Taplow Court and shared our reason to apply for SUA. Ana Paula, who is a student at Soka University of America, gave to her some presents from SUA. It was a great time.

I have had friends at home on holiday since last month. Cecilia and Paula have been here for a month. Junior came and stayed here for 5 days last week. We had good time with him. He is very funny and special. I have had amazing time with Cecilia and Ana Paula too. I will miss them as I have missed Junior. As my mentor always says that friends are the best things we can have in our life. They are more precious that all the treasures in the world. I completely agree with Sensei. I am a luck woman to have some many friends in Brazil and around the world.
